Our emblem is referred to as the "No King But Jesus" emblem. "No king but Jesus!" was a phrase used by some early American settlers seeking to escape the clutches of European tyranny. It is not intended as a slant against democratic government (and should NEVER appear at political rallies or demonstrations) but serves to remind us of our aim to self govern. Not intended as a graven image, for we know only Humans are created in the image of God, the "friendly lion" represents the character of Christ our King which we strive to imitate, which is to have access to strength and power but wield it with care and empathy. This is called "meekness". The jewel around His neck represents who we strive to be, which is "His treasured possession" as expressed in Deuteronomy 7:6.
The style of the emblem is inspired by 1920's and 1930's art deco and cartoon animation, with a bit of Max Fleischer influence. The 1920's and 1930's in America saw great achievements, new industries, and technological innovations because of extremely hard working and dedicated Americans, and yet, you could still find many Americans living off the land without the luxury of household electricity and infrastructure. Similarly, we want to innovate new ideas, businesses, and creative endeavors, while balancing that with a closeness to natural living.
There are rules to observe regarding the use of the "No King But Jesus" emblem. Its purpose is to be a teaching tool, to mark our presence, and to communicate our cultural identity. To avoid idolatry, it is never to be displayed on the outside of a church or anywhere in or around the sanctuary. It is also never to be displayed during any political rallies, protests, or demonstrations.
